  • Blast from the Podcast Past: Podcast 4 with Ilium Software

I just found out that one of my long time favorite mobile software development firms has a Twitter account. You can follow Ilium Software at…

    @IliumSoftware

Ilium’s Ellen Craw and Marc Tassin were one of the very first podcast guests on the MobileViews Podcast (then called the MobileAppsToday Podcast). You can listen to it using the embedded podcast player above.

  • Podcast 26: iHound Software – Track a Lost or Stolen iPhone

I had the opportunity to speak with iHound Software’s VP of Business Development (and one of the firm’s founders) about their iHound for iPhone app that can help you recover a lost or stolen iPhone. The app normally costs $3.99 but is currently on sale in the iTunes App Store for $2.99. Purchasing the app includes 6 months of tracking service via their website. The annual cost for the service is $9.99.

Gary announced on the podcast that they just started providing code to enable other applications to use their service. This means, for example, that if a game is iHound enabled, if someone uses that app on your iPhone, it will broadcast its current position.

  • Mini-Podcast 9: LiveScribe Pulse Smartpen

The LiveScribe Pulse Smartphone 2GB model I bought arrived a few days ago (There’s also a 1GB model). In this mini-podcast:

    1. I discuss syncing with multiple computers and multiple platforms (Mac OS X & Microsoft Windows)
    2. I provide a short sound recording made with the pen’s built-in microphone (it also comes with a headset that records in stereo).

  • Mini-Podcast 8: Phone Voice Spam in my Google Voice Account

I was surprised to see what looks like phone voice spam in the History folder of my Google Voice account.

    googlevoice_phonespam

I believe these missed phone calls are incoming phone spam because I’m not familiar with the numbers and Google Voice managed to record two brief fragments from the first number in the list above (401-889-9876) from Warwick RI and the last number (786-369-7342) from Miami FL. I’ve attached those two recorded fragments of what sounds like part of a pre-recorded phone voice spam at the end of Mini-Podcast 8.

  • Podcast 25: Bento for iPhone – A Conversation with FileMaker VP Ryan Rosenberg

FileMaker’s Bento is been a popular personal database app for the Mac. Its one shortcoming for me was the lack of a way to carry its data with me on a phone. The release of…

Bento for iPhone 1.0 (iTunes App Store)

    Bento for iPhone (Product page)

…earlier this week appears to have addressed that issue for me. Fortunately, I was able to speak with Ryan Rosenberg, Vice President of Marketing and Services, to learn more about Bento for iPhone.

We also spent a few minutes discussing a second iPhone related product that was also released this week: FileMaker PHP iPhone Site Assistant. This server-side product produces iPhone friendly web pages for presenting data stored in FileMaker Server.

  • Blast from the Podcast Past: Podcast 11 – Conversation with Evernote CEO Phil Libin

Every now and then, I re-push an old-ish podcast that I think people might have missed and be interested in. I just listened to last week’s Net@Nite podcast #98 in which hosts Leo LaPorte and Amber MacArthur speak with Evernote CEO Phil Libin. I’m a huge fan of Evernote. I have Evernote clients installed on Windows, Mac OS X, Windows Mobile and the iPhone. And, its web interface gets used a lot by me too. So, if you missed it the first time around, I’ve embedded my conversation with Evernote CEO Phil Libin from earlier this year (January 30, 2009). You can find MobileViews.com Podcast (then called MobileAppsToday Podcast) #11 embedded above. You can also download it from the iTunes Store.
