People often poke fun at the idea of using an iPad to take a photo or record a video. I do so at least a few times a month and wondered if I was the only one doing this apparently odd thing. While at a high school track meet yesterday, I spotted this guy recording a video. So, it looks like I am NOT the only one who thinks it is fine to use the iPad’s camera to do what it was designed to do. 🙂

ProClip car dashboard mounting hardware for iPhone 4 & HTC HD7 – Is it as easy to install as they claim?
My Griffin iTrip Auto for the iPhone, which had been flaky for about a year, became even flakier and lost its inline remote control function a few weeks ago. So, I replaced it with the Griffin iTrip Auto Universal Plus which does not have an inline remote control but has the advantage of working with other phones like my HTC HD7. The new problem was that I now needed some kind of car mount so I could touch the screen without holding the device (against the law where I live). So, I sent email to a bunch of friends asking for advice. It turns out that one of those friends works for ProClip which sells mounts for all kinds of gadgets. Students will need 64GB iPads to store multiple rich media iBooks
Apple’s updated iBooks 2 app supports highly interactive multimedia textbooks created by the new free iBooks Author software for Mac OS X. iBooks Author’s EULA lock-in clause has raised a ruckus (see: Publish an ebook created using iBook Author & lock yourself in Apple-land forever). RunKeeper Fitness Reports enhanced
RunKeeper updated its Fitness Reports to provide more information. A premium account (RunKeeper Elite) is needed to view most of it. However, I found the the Total Distance information available for free accounts useful. It lets me look at my walking information in a variety of ways. You can see my totals sorted by day of week in the screenshot above.
The free RunKeeper mobile app is available for a variety of platforms. I use the version for Windows Phone to track my near-daily walking sessions.

PostSecret iPhone app pulled. Podcast discussion w/Frank Warren about the app in 2011
CNET’s Michelle Meyers reported that the PostSecret iPhone app was pulled out of the app store.
PostSecret shuts down iPhone app due to abusive posts
I had wondered earlier if the open nature of the app (compared to the more closed controlled situation for the physical postcards that the PostSecret site had been based on) would cause any issue. It is a shame that this happened. PostSecret is an amazing and unique site.
You can listen to my discussion with PostSecret founder Frank Warren in MobileViews podcast #51 recorded on Sept. 13, 2011 shortly after the apps launch using the embedded player below.
