I was briefly happy to read about the release of…
(Firefox for mobile devices). Why only briefly? This release only for the Maemo platform (Nokia Internet Tablet series) which I don’t use. Oh well. Nice to see progress made on any platform.

Response to a good suggestion on my MobileDevicesToday blog about considering Apple’s tiny WiFi router as a travel router.
Thx for the comment & tweet about Apple’s Airport Express Base Station. I considered buying it but at twice the price of the D-Link, I decided to save some $$$ for a product I will probably rarely use. It’s support of 802.11n is faster if your mobile device supports it. And, while the older Eee PC 1000H supported 11n, the newer 1000HA does not (tops out at 11g speeds). The Airport Express Base Station does have a couple of other interesting features though. And, it may be among the last of the currently in-production travel access point/router products.

I just learned about this fact after reading a comment on my MobileAppsToday blog.
I just hit 9 screens. What’s strange is that it will still let you install apps, they just don’t show up! I thought I was insane because I knew I had just installed something but could not find it. Off to delete more!

This is a rebuttal to my MobileDevicesToday.com blogging partner’s comment that Nokia and Windows Mobile does not have flagship products.
Nokia has both current & future flagship phones. Their current flagship phone is the N96 although I’ve noted Nokia product experts (I don’t consider myself one of those) sometimes note they prefer the older N95. Their soon-to-be released N97 (with QWERTY keyboard) will be their 2009 flagship product when it is released in a few months. Microsoft Windows Mobile doesn’t have a flagship product because they do not make phones. For Microsoft to designate one of their many manufacturer’s models as a “flagship” model would alienate their other hardware partners. That said, there are several Windows Mobile smartphones such as the HTC Touch Pro, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, or Pantech Matrix Pro that might be considered flagships.

Microsoft MVPs Helio (singing) and Rocko (in the giant beaver costume) rock out with Microsoft’s Constance (cat) and John (octopus) in Seattle’s Experience Music Project (EMP) during the Microsoft MVP Summit 2009 party on Tuesday night (March 3). A good mobile time was had by all. 🙂
rikin: Thanks for the pointer to Tumblr’s blog clarifying the Tumblerette/official Tumblr app relationship. Just follwed them on my tumblog and added their RSS feed to my list of readings. I’ve been playing the Tumblr’s iPhone app a bit myself for the past day and must say I like it a lot.
