Fifty-three (53) apps were updated for my iPhone or iPad in the past week. Here’s a summary of some of the more significant updates. The vast majority of updates were bug fixes and support for the new iPad’s retina display.

End of an era: iTunes free stuff section disappeared
For as long as I can remember, Apple’s iTunes store featured a section highlighting free songs, TV episodes, movie featurettes, and other digital freebies available for the week. This section was refreshed every Tuesday. Digital freebies are still available. However, it looks like Apple wants you to work to find it now because the free content section disappeared from the iTunes store front page.

Yes, people do record videos with iPads
People often poke fun at the idea of using an iPad to take a photo or record a video. I do so at least a few times a month and wondered if I was the only one doing this apparently odd thing. While at a high school track meet yesterday, I spotted this guy recording a video. So, it looks like I am NOT the only one who thinks it is fine to use the iPad’s camera to do what it was designed to do. 🙂
