Apple’s App Store Distribution page reports that 88% of iOS devices are running the current version. Google’s Android Developer Dashboard reports that 8.5% of Android devices is running the current release (Kitkat 4.4).

MobileViews Podcast 82: Farewell to Springpad. What to do when a fav service shuts down
Todd Ogasawara discusses the impending shutdown of Springpad, a web service he uses daily, with Jon Westfall. Springpad announced last week that they plan to shutdown on June 25, 2014.
Todd is testing using Pinterest (of all things!) as a bookmarkng service to replace Springpad’s excellent ability to clip and store web page references from desktop and mobile browsers. Jon suggests evaluating Evernote Clipper and Xmarks (formerly Foxmarks).
Jon also offers the three characteristics he looks for in web services.

MobileViews Podcast 79: Microsoft Office for iPad (finally…)
Todd Ogasawara and Jon Westfall about the long-awaited (possibly too long) release of Microsoft Office for iPad in MobileViews Podcast 79. Other topics:
– Microsoft Office for Android (phones only) and iPhone available too. And, unlike the iPad version, can edit documents using these free versions.
– Microsoft OneNote for OS/X released (also, finally) for free. Note, this will only install if your Mac is running the current Mavericks OS/X release. It will not install on Macs running older releases. Note: As you can see in Jon’s screenshots below, OneNote for OS/X offers just a small subset of the features available for the Windows version.
