OneNote Mobile for Android is now available worldwide
This app is available for free in the Android Market. It sync with Microsoft’s free SkyDrive cloud storage service too (refer to my BYTE article to learn more about SkyDrive). This lets you sync between devices without the need for a PC in between.
As nice as it is, I had to uninstall the app. Here’s why…
First, OneNote for Android is huge. It weighed in at 18.6MB. Second, the app cannot be moved out of system memory to flash storage. This may not be a problem for newer Android devices with large amounts of system memory. However, it is a big problem for my aging Nexus One (released Jan. 2010). Bottom line: I had to uninstall the app because I don’t have any other app or collection of apps I’m willing to uninstall in favor of OneNote for Android.
