A friend and fellow Mobile Devices MVP has a pre-production Redfly Windows Mobile Companion. At $199 this would be a killer product. At $499, I don’t think so. It would make more sense for me to buy an Asus Eee PC even if it couldn’t connect to a mobile phone network.

You can use an external 3G modem with the Asus Eee PC. Since at least march, Asus Xandros support the Huawei E220 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huawei_E220). Most Mobile broadband providers here in UK offer this modem (between 20 to 100 pounds) to access their network.
I had more trouble installing it on Vista than on Asus linux distribution lol.
