Just found this in Business Week…
The Secrets of Microsoft’s Sync
Sync is is a Microsoft car product found in Ford cars that lets you control the stereo and your phone (via Bluetooth) using voice commands. Microsoft tried this several years ago with their Windows CE Automotive products that never really caught on. Given Ford’s slipping sales, Sync might have more traction if it were available in cars from other manufacturers.

Frank: Thanks for the feedback. I’m not surprised it is helping to sell cars. I’m sure it is good for Ford. But, since Ford is, I believe, #3 in world-wide sales, I wonder if GM (#1) or Toyota (#2) will pick up Sync for their cars. According to the SyncMyRide site, Microsoft Sync is much simpler than the older Windows CE Automotive. It looks like all it does is voice command and charge devices. Its slogan is: You talk, Sync listens. On the other hand, it works with a lot of devices including the Apple iPod.
I know people who work at Ford that tell me they are selling cars just because of Sync. I’ve been wondering whether Sync is reach not much more than Voice Command?
