I played around with Remote Desktop Connection on a Windows Mobile 6 Pocket PC this evening. You can see a sample screenshot of it connected to a Windows XP Media Center Edition PC with remote access turned on for an account. You can see that Windows Mobile’s RDC does a credible job of showing the entire screen. But, it complains that I have too many menu items (true) to display correctly.
The right soft-key is a toggle between full-screen viewing and normal viewing with menus and navigation bars displayed. You can choose to display more colors but I left it at the default 256 colors to speed up the display.

Thanks a lot for the link. Got my HTC back from service without rdp client… Simiho
Ok, i have been researching through TONS of forums and using trial and error from all of the information. i am in need of help. i have a Sprint HTC Mogul (6800), i have the Remote Desktop software installed… to my device, not the storage card. i have a Netgear router, with the Port 3389 forwarded (i think i did it correctly). i input my PC’s IP address (according to whatismyip.com), i am using my correct Login info for Windows XP user account. no Domain. i start my 36 connection First before attempting to connect to Remote Desktop. Gives me error messages every time. “ip address may not exist” … “possible network connection problems”. i am at a total loss. about to completely give up. this is my last ditch effort. someone… please…. help. and i work a lot, so if someone, ANYONE could respond to my cry for aid thru e-mail, i would be forever grateful!

WARNING:
ya know I’d love to use RDC on my Sprint Touch Pro. I came across these posts a while ago. There was a site that answered my prayers immediately. It said that the dude was in the same boat and hey, here’s the answer… here’s the file… just install it. So I did!
Everything seemes fine. I connected, played around on the desktop and thought it was awesome.
UNFORTUNATELY after I was done, I noticed shortly after that my desktop was prompted for a remote desktop connection, while I wasn’t using it. My firewall popped up asking to allow the connection.
It seemed that my attempt to connect to my desktop had also called home to whoever provided the file, and literally handed them the username, IP, and password on how to gain full access to my desktop…
That Andrew Block’s site seems to be very familiar in how I acquired it. And the Andy (same person) seems to be very willing to hand out his file instead of providing a place to purchase or obtain it from a reputable source.
All I’m saying is be careful with these things. Free proggies that open up access can do just that in the worst way…
You can do the same with Linux. That’s what makes it so hard to pick a mobile device.
Please has anyone managed to use gotomypc to connect to a pc from a sony ericsson X1 ??? the X1 tech guys cant seem to help much.
Hey guys, I can’t connect via the remote desktop program andy pasted here. So could anyone give me instructions via e-mail? The computer name is the same as my IP, eh?
[…] Mobile device that capable of managing servers Hi, take a look at http://www.mobileviews.com/blog/2007…op-connection/ Any PDA which runs WIndows Mobile PDA (or Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional should work). Personally […]
I have the latest Mogul, 6.1 and cannot find Remote Desktop or Terminal Services. I read through the threads, checked my phone. I cannot install the finster files. My active Synce is working. Any Ideas????
Blake: Not all carriers include the terminal client with their Windows Mobile smartphones. So, having 6.1 does not insure getting it
if you do not have 6.1 you will not have this feature(remote desktop). You need to update your rom to 6.1 through your provider.

@Tony – Upgrade your i760 to WM6.1 and the Remote Desktop App is included.
is there any symbian(s60) appln which can perform the above functions.

Does the WM6RDP work for a Samsung I760?
Has anyone got this working with Remote Web workplace?
Simon
Hey guys I was looking for this a while back and I found it. There is a remote desktop client. You can download the ‘WM6RDP.cab’ file from my site here: http://andrewblock.net/?p=85. Hope this helps!
I just purchased an AT&T Tilt with WM6. I would like to downloan Remote Desktop Mobile. How and where do I get that? Do I download it to my PC, then how do I get it to my phone? I bought this phone mainly for that reason.
Thanks in advance
If you are keyboard is not working, its becuase you installed it on your card. I had the same problem and i installed it on the device. Now i can type!
Yes, I just bought a Mogul from Sprint and remote desktop is not installed. Very annoying!
Does anyone else find it annoying that Remote Desktop Mobile Times out after 10 Minutes of Idle Time And there is no option to change this?
I have it installed and ‘working’ on my mogul, but I can’t type anything. the mouse functions work fine, but not the keyboard. Any thoughts?
Here is a link to download it from.

Amazing how Sprint doesn’t know that the phone doesn’t come with it.
Hi
Soes anyone know if Windows Mobile 6 can run a consol session of Remote Desktop Connection? As in normal windows you run “mstsc” for a remote desktop connection, but for a remote desktop consol connection you type “mstsc / consol”.
Any help would be massively appreciated!
Cheers
I have installed the program of the aove link, I can conect to the remote pc, but only hte pen is working, not the hardwar keyboard not the electronic one on the screen.
Sombody can help me?
ciao
I’ve got a HTC8525, and the WM6 upgrade that came out in December for it removed the RDP client, and I was heartbroken. Luckily the link in Andy’s comment worked great for me. Finally I can remotely control my machines on the road again!
I have a HTC P4350. The Manual claims to have the software on the phone but i cant notice it anywhere. Is there a website that i can download it from or is there a registry edit one can use.
How To Connect Windows Mobile 6 to Remote Desktop Connection On My Windows XP Pro SP2 PC having RDC
OK, so I’ve learnt that remote desktop is now an option under win 6 but I still want to connect to my PCs and our VPN with my HTC TYTN11.
Can anyone give me the ‘lapsed techie’ version of where I can get a clean and reliable download of the required software and how the whole process is made to work (installation process)? Any help gratefully received. Thanks
To Richard Ward. My Assumption you work with XP sp2. You must activate remote desktop from your pc. You must have user name login and also the password on your login pc. Without password you can not remote your pc.
If you use bluetooth for connection, pleas pair first your PC and PDA through active sync. And then run your remote dekstop from your PDA. And enjoy !!!
Very sneaky. I’ve been running Windows Mobile 6 on my HTC Apache (PPC-6700) for a week now and I just noticed today when I tried to connect to my work… no Remote Desktop client! Thanks for the fix, guys.
I got it to work on the Mogul!
This is an awsome software!
I use it to check to start download on my newsgroup or start/stop a service like your SQL server.
Otherwise, a little hard to navigate.
But its better than NOTHING!
Yep, Remote Desktop for WM is one of those ‘optional’ apps. Looks like most manufacturers removed it (perhaps at the direction of the carrier selling it).
Read through this thread at PDAPhoneHome.com: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6700-xv6700/84897-wm6_rdp-mobile-remote-desktop-client.html
At first it may seem the thread is for ppc-6700, but read on and you’ll see that plenty of people (including me) are able to use the attached file to install remote desktop on their Mogul/6800.
I too spent a long time on tech support trying to explain that remote desktop is supposed to be a part of the wm6 os and that they must have made a decision at some point to remove it from the device, but no luck. I eventually gave up and turned to google…
I can’t find it either on my mogul WTF!? Hey how about they not install Getgood or OnDemand and install Remote Desktop!
I too am looking for the Remote Desktop Connection on a Windows Mobile 6 Pocket PC. I have the new t-moble wing and it doesn’t seem to be installed.
I have the same problem. Using the new Sprint Mogul (6800) and can’t find the Remote Desktop program anywhere. Help states it should be listed under the program folder. It’s not…and I just spent over an hour on the phone with Sprint only to be disconnected when the tech couldn’t figure it out (There device was “broken” so he couldn’t help me. Can anyone help with this?
where can i find the windows mobile 6 remote desktop client its not on my sprint ppc 6800 device
