So, this push-email (made popular by the RIMM Blackberry) is all good and well. But, you are a Windows Mobile device user and do NOT use an Exchange Server for your email. So, big deal. Right?
Well, it turns out that push-email can be had with the free Hotmail service from Microsoft and the upcoming Windows Mobile 6 devices. Here’s a link to an article on the MSDN Blogs that describes how to set up a free push-email service.
The problem is that with Emansio it is hit and miss. I have tried FlexMail, Profimail, Live, Emansio and a few others. Tested them all. Emansio is so hit and miss that it is only with luck that you would have a good day. Don’t even bother to think about the month. Now these were tested on an Eten M700 running Windows 6.5. Maybe on the HTC Touch Pro it might work better, but it shouldn’t have to be that way. FlexMail and Profimail worked perfect.
Hi,
Emansio is a Windows Mobile plug-in for pocket Outlook that enables push mail for most email providers like Google etc…
A free fully functional trial is available for download from http://www.emansio.com .

What I find even more interesting is that the push Hotmail coexists with push email from Exchange. Now I can have both work and personal email pushed to my device.
I might finally have a real use for my Hotmail account.
